Tabs counter is not updated in tabs tray after closing a tab #8955

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a few tabs
  2. Open tabs tray
  3. Close one tab
  4. Check the tabs counter in tabs tray
    1. Expected behavior

We have an automated test that verifies closing a tab from tab tray, but the tab counter is not being checked currently. I think we had that and was removed for some reason, but worth investigating to add that check again since this is not the first regression around this. I will open a task for that

A PR to fix this issue is created. UI test is not added though.
