Separate Private Mode search engine
Issue :- #1076
Why is it a problem?
A user might fear about IP based coalescing of queries while searching (for eg. in case of using Google) when the user is using the Private mode. And hence might want to use DuckDuckGo for searches in private mode.
How would you solve the problem? What is your design proposal?
Competitive analysis would be a good way to tackle this problem. Brave browser tackles with this problem by giving a prompt on the home screen of each private tab saying "Learn more about DuckDuckGo". It also provides with the search engine to choose in private tab and standard tab separately.
Design Proposal :-
I feel Brave does a great job in letting the user know of this feature. What I propose is that we can give a prompt to the user in the home screen of a private tab to change their search engine to DuckDuckGo by saying that they are currently doing an unsafe search and can should change their search engine to DuckDuckGo.
How would you measure your designs effectiveness?
Analyzing the data about how much is this feature being used by the user through the number of clicks. If the design doesn't come out to be effective then re-iterating over the design to make it effective.
