As a user, on most other apps I use, it is required to pull down a page to refresh it. Hence, this is an instinctive action. Additionally, on Firefox Preview the option to refresh is not very easily found- it is located in the menu bar, which is not a very evident position, and most users would take a while to locate it. In order to increase efficiency of the UI, this should be an incorporated feature which can be turned off manually through the browser settings.
How would you solve the problem? What is your design proposal?
I have created 2 refresh logos- one minimal one, and one which incorporates the colors of the firefox brand.
These logos could be animated to rotate while the refreshing process is going on.
Webpage is not fully pulled down yet:
Note- as the webpage is pulled further down, more of the 'refresh' logo is exposed.
Webpage has been fully pulled down:
Design 1-
Note-'Refresh' logo turns coloured
Design 2-
Note- Background turns coloured
How would you measure your designs effectiveness?
By putting out occasional user surveys pertaining to UI/UX and also by monitoring the use of the refresh function, we will be able to tell the utility and appeal of the design.
