Web Extensions allow the user to to customize their browsing experience. Many users prefer Mozilla because of the privacy it provides and the option of adding add-ons. However, to enhance user experience, users should be allowed to choose as to which add-ons they want to enable and disable in the private mode. This will give the users freedom of choice and flexibility which allows a better user experience.
How would you solve the problem? What is your design proposal?
I feel that it is important for the user to know that this feature exists (assuming implemented) and should not take more than 3 clicks to reach to the feature.
The add-ons option can be accessed through settings. If the user wishes to enable the add-on they can easily choose if they wish to do that for private browsing also.
How would you measure your designs effectiveness?
Unmoderated User Testing:- Giving the users certain tasks (Adding certain add-ons in the private mode, disabling some after sometime, enabling some for private mode etc ). These tasks will be carried on in an environment where the user is comfortable in and without a moderator (as the name suggests.)
Putting in analytics (number of clicks) to see how much is the usage of this feature and studying the data collected to study the effectiveness.
