Likewise, and has been the case for the some time.
To solve the issue I've tried:
Is it that I use strict Tracking Protection? Or a secure VPN that anonymises my IP?

I have this same issue. I have reason to believe that maybe my account is stuck in some weird state.
I've tried using multiple different Windows machines, multiple android devices, and even a Linux device. I've even started with fresh Windows/Linux installs and tried it. The same issue appears.
I go to sign in. I type in my password. (I've tried it with 2FA and without). And it gets to the "Connected, sign in on a second device!" screen, but then doing that or immediately going to another tab results in "Please sign in to reconnect"

Steps to reproduce:
Installed firefox on a new computer and now I am not able to log in to sync. (Might have happened before I installed firefox on a new computer, but if so I did not notice it). Now I can't log in to sync on my mac either.
Actual results:
Triangle with "!" appears on the firefox account icon in the top bar, and it says "Reconnect to firefox account". When clicking it the log in appears. Logging in works fine, the triangle dissapears. But as soon as firefox tries to sync the triangle and message appears again.
Expected results:
Expecting to be able to log in to account and sync. Note: I do not have access to my old computer anymore. But my Mac is connected to the same firefox account.
