Wait a sec, seriously? Don't you see a problem with this request?
Who's next to be excepted? Facebook? 😅
It impacts the trustworthyness of the whole service when you start to exempt some services but not others. Wasnt the idea to put the control into users hands?!
Thanks for sharing your concerns @Paratron. To emphasise, the reason for this is technical and unique to FxA/Relay: if you create an FxA account with a Relay address, and then start using Relay with that account, our systems will blow up and the user experience will be terrible. We don't have principled objections to using a mask to create a Firefox account, and other sites like Facebook won't have this problem :)
(That said, I do expect us to eventually suppress the icon on sites for which we know that we're breaking the UI as well, but then you'll still be able to use the context menu or even just generate a mask via relay.firefox.com, of course.)
Remove the Relay Icon from FxA email fields so that it does not encourage users to make an FxA account with a mask.
