Hi there!
Thanks for the bug report. Currently the app is a bit unstable and is undergoing a pretty big rewrite over in the v2 branch.
In the coming weeks there should be a version that you can check out from git and run on your phone, and should fix the download bugs. It will also offer a streaming mode for phones with smaller memory footprints that can't handle the large downloads or browsers/engines that don't offer systemXHR permission or sufficient storage.
I'll post to this bug again when the new version is released. I'm sorry this one has been a bit unmaintained, but I promise to fix these issues and let you know when I have.
Ok, cool. I really miss a podcast app on Firefox OS.

You can try https://github.com/colinfrei/Podcast/ ... its user interface on FxOS phone is horrible (especially media player is basically non-existent), but it can do a way more than this app; e.g., offline download of podcasts (to IndexedDB), and it shows a queue of podcast issues to be played.
The v2 branch is live on the Firefox Marketplace also: https://marketplace.firefox.com/app/podcasts
Sorry, yeah, the new version is up and should work fine; please reopen if this problem still exists.
I just installed the app from git and I was able to search and subscribe to the "Accidental Tech Podcast". Sadly it doesn't show the artwork and when I try to download the latest episode (66) it starts the download and then after about 45 seconds the app crashes fatally and I see my normal home app icons.
I'm on Wifi and the normal Firefox OS 1.1.0 on a Alcatel One Touch Fire.
I added another podcast called "Odpod" and I was able to download the whole latest episode (138) and the text for this episode is a bit lighter then for the others (which I didn't download). When I press on this episode the text "Nothing playing" changes to "#138: Ministerieavsnittet" but then after about 8 seconds the app crashes again.
