Lightbeam discarding blocked site list #709

Open CharlesWB3 opened 8 years ago

I spent 2-3 weeks researching 3rd party sites and blocked 100+ marketing/advertising sites. Then I exported/saved everything to lightbeamData.json. Then one day, LB discarded all my blocked sites and put me back to square 1. Now I don't want to start blocking sites again, if LB is just going to discard all my work. I can't find how to import/reload my lightbeamData.json to recover my blocked site list. Can you help, or should I just disable and remove Lightbeam?

Hi Charles, I'm sorry to hear this. Lightbeam isn't supposed to discard your blocked sites. I'm not sure what happened (probably a bug) but I don't know that we can recover it, unfortunately.

If you are interested in researching and building up a list of sites to block I would suggest instead the following:

Alternatively, if you want to keep the list to yourself and have it take effect immediately, you can take a look at the NoScript or RequestPolicy add-ons.
