Are you thinking fixed nav on scroll plus the back-to-top button? That seems overkill so we should just choose one.
My vote would be for the back-to-top button. This way users can access both the main menu items and the date picker.
I also find fixed menus after scroll down can be very jittery (but it's been a while so maybe they're better now).
Back to top is not a very common pattern. It's pretty easy to fling back to the top. And that big button spot is often used for Edit or Add New. It's a lot of prominence and feels distracting.
Here's a smooth fixed menu example.
Weird, that example isn't fixed on my iphone? By jittery I mean on phones when it isn't a straightforward fixed nav (only the very top part is fixed). What we're proposing is to scroll a little and then fix what is below.
If @mmmavis is up for trying it then I'm game. I would put it at a low priority 'enhancement' tho.
yea let's put this as an enhancement ticket - I won't have time to tackle this until other major event app related changes are done.
As discussed in Redpen, consider making the main nav fixed at the top of the view on mobile, after a user scrolls down below the header. Thoughts @kristinashu @mmmavis?
