@mmmavis this has been rebased off your branch, so once you merge that in, give this a review.

I came across the persistent state effect and I think it's actually useful- if you're looking at sessions for a specific time (say, the next hour), then that time being open across the app whenever you open a filtered view is probably more useful than not.
