Refine Guidebook Links #1140

Open xmatthewx opened 5 years ago

xmatthewx commented 5 years ago

Once people commit to coming to MozFest, the schedule is the most important thing. Guidebook is totally awesome, but leaves a little to be desired UX-wise.

Problem: We want to make the schedule accessible via a browser so we don'trequire people to download an app. When we include a link to the online schedule on the Guidebook landing page, this link also gets included on the first view of the online schedule itself. It's not the worst thing, but looks slightly odd, and might catch a few people in a link loop.

Solution Part 1

Solution Part 2

@gideonthomas - can you drive this? Please correct mozfest.org/schedule to the proper URL for that page.

I found the term "online schedule" confusing. Could we change it to something around "web version" or "browser-based"? Maybe the link could read "view schedule in browser"?

xmatthewx commented 5 years ago

Agreed. Even just "View schedule" will imply it'll just open.

gideonthomas commented 5 years ago

@marcwalsh can we make the change that Matthew is suggesting?

gideonthomas commented 5 years ago

Since we weren't able to make this change for 2018, let's try to do it next year if we decide to use guidebook again.

marcwalsh commented 5 years ago

@gideonthomas sorry I didn't update this before. I updated the shortlink for mzl.la/sched so it pointed to the schedule page on the website. I'll try and dig up some stats so we can see how much it was used!

awesome, thanks @marcwalsh
