Provide a curated list of containers #1229

Novice users can't manage containers at all. Heck as a power user I get annoyed having to define a container for all the major sites I visit, then being asked to confirm them, and remembering to check off to make it the default. The current system is just too cumbersome, but also too useful to ignore. It would be better if there was a fallback container system that was crowdsourced and overridden by the current implementation of containers if a user desired. If Firefox can market itself as the privacy friendly browser, even for tech adverse individuals, it will go a long way towards adoption and retention.

Foe example, Whatsapp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram should all be part of the Facebook container by default. I have no idea if this is already the case, but it's an example. All of Google should be in one container. It would also be great if we could define wildcards, so .google. would go into one container. If this option is already present, it's not obvious.

One small concern is the line indicating containers is too thin unless it's the active window since the bottom of the tab 'opens up' and the line is easier to see. Ideally the entire tab background should be the colour of the container. At a very minimum, make the line thicker.

I love this idea. The only problem that would need to be overcome would be it might be quite easy to sneak sites into one container that shouldn't be in there. A marketplace with verified containers would be a great boost to making people feel more safe and secure, though.

Facebook Container & Google Container do exist for that matter.

Eexcept I don't think WhatsApp is a included. I can confirm Facebook.com, Instagram & messenger.com are all included in the Facebook Container add-on. The only downside to these containers is that it won't allow you to use multi accounts. This goes for Google Container add-on as well.

However, there is another solution if you want to use wildcards on sub-domains without either of those 2 add-ons.

And that's Simple Tab Groups....which I've been recommending to all users.
