Please remove 25-character limit on container names #1579

Firefox 70.0.1 Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon 64-bit Multi-Account Containers: 6.1.1

Dear developers of the helpful multiaccount-containers extension,

First off, I want to express my hearty appreciation of this extension. Before, I would have to open up a New Private Window in Firefox. If that's not enough, I'd open Firefox Beta, Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera, Opera Beta, Vivaldi. But now that I have installed your useful extension, my workflow is streamlined.

Here's my simple request: Please remove the 25-character limit for container names.

I can understand why you imposed that limit: A long container name may keep us from seeing the URL.

Limiting to 25 characters may make sense for people with one or more of the following:

-small screens -low resolution -a busy toolbar (e.g., lots of extension buttons) -wide density in Firefox ("touch" or "normal", as opposed to "compact" density) -large text size

But others of us who have:

-large screen -high resolution -sparse toolbar -compact density in Firefox -small text size

may appreciate a lengthier name for a container.

Now you may ask: hub2git, what do you need such a long name for? I'm glad you asked, devs. You see, I try to use each container for various sites. For example:

  1. ContainerA will be RedditAliasA,GoogleAliasA, FacebookAliasA, twitterAliasA, InstagramAccountA
  2. ContainerB will be RedditB, GoogWorkB, fbC, twitB, InstaB

For anyone faces the same issue, you can access the following page about:preferences#containers, which doesn't impose a character limit on container names.
