Enabling new permissions deletes existing container configuration #2251

Open jswinarton opened 2 years ago

jswinarton commented 2 years ago

Actual behavior

When enabling optional permissions for the extension, existing container configuration is deleted and replaced with the four default containers provided on installation.

Expected behavior

Enabling optional permissions should not affect container configuration.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have multiple containers that are named and configured differently from the default containers provided on installation
  2. Enable "Read and modify bookmarks", "Exchange messages with programs other than Firefox", "Control browser proxy settings" in the Add-ons manager

Notes

MAC version: 8.0.4 OS: Ubuntu 20.04 Firefox version: 95.0.1 (64-bit) Other installed extensions:

This also happens with the inverse: if the proxy permissions are removed, all existing containers are removed and reset to the defaults. Version 8.0.7.

Just had the same thing happen as @tlvince. Didn't realize the vpn/proxy permissions were enabled, went to disable them, all containers reset.
