Actual behavior

When opening a site that opens in container A from homepage shortcuts, in a tab currently in container B, the tab closes, and it becomes impossible to change tabs in firefox without restarting it.

Expected behavior

When opening a site that opens in container A from homepage shortcuts, in a tab currently in container B, the tab should close and another tab in container B opens, with the prompt if it should continue opening the site in container A or B. (At least that is the behaviour seen when it is working properly),

Steps to reproduce

  1. Configure a site to open in container A, with it asking everytime
  2. Open a tab in container B
  3. Open the site in the tab

Notes

Started happening after one or two firefox updates ago. Does not happen all the time, just happens randomly.

What do you mean by "Configure a site to open in container A, with it asking everytime" Do you mean that you have selected "Always open this site in..." and then you select the container..... and then when you open that domain in a new tab, it opens a tab and asks you if you want to Open this site in your assigned container????

You cant select multiple containers after choosing "Always open this site in..." You cannot have a website domain in more than one container category. When you go to your homepage in a container, and then select a site from your homepage shortcuts, it will open in that tab.... and if you selected "Always open this site in..." you will get that dialog box asking you about Opening this site in your assigned container?

Click on Manage Containers, then click one of the containers that you have, Then Click on "Manage Site List..." to see the list of websites you have assigned to always open in that container.

I think you clicked on that "Remember my decision for this site" so you will not see that pop-up menu question ask you and then you have forgotten that you created that setting. So now when you want to open a site from your homepage links in Container A,.... it automatically opens in Container B without asking you what you want to do.

This functionality in the add-on could be quite misleading. This is why @achernyakevich-sc proposed to slightly change it as they have described in https://github.com/mozilla/multi-account-containers/issues/2294 I would appreciate if you will vote for it.
