Opening "No Container" stops working sometimes, opens in current tab's container #2479

Before submitting a bug report

Step to reproduce

After an unknown precondition, for some reason,

  1. Right-click on tab, select "Open in new container" > "No Container"

or

  1. Right-click the new-tab plus button, select "No Container"

Actual behavior

I don't know why it gets stuck sometimes, but I use "No container" as a container (should I not?) and sometimes opening (either a new tab, or current tab) a tab with "No container" instead opens in the container type of the current tab.

Expected behavior

It should open the tab in "No Container", like it usually does.

Additional informations

Usually this works, but it seems to get stuck in a broken state, and sometimes also-mysteriously resolves without a browser restart.

Technically speaking, it isn't a container.

sometimes opening (either a new tab, or current tab) a tab with "No container" instead opens in the container type of the current tab.

Does it happen always with the same websites?

Does it happen always with the same websites?

This happens when a website is set to "always open in this container".

That's exactly why I was asking OP this question. See instructions to remove an assignment https://github.com/mozilla/multi-account-containers/wiki/Frequently-asked-questions#remove-always-open-in-site-from-a-container

I'm closing this since there's been no response in more than a month. I'll re-open it if needed.

Once it gets stuck, it doesn't matter the website. Even about:newtab won't switch to no-container. I never use "always open in this container"

im having the same problem. there needs to be a way to manage the sites and what containers there linked to and be able to remove sites from a container. i removed a container and now i have 2 websites stuck asking me every time even when i say remember. still wanting to open in a container.
