microformats2 (http://microformats.org/wiki/microformats2) is a standard way web authors express common items on websites such as people, events, products, blog posts, etc. (along with classic microformats, across millions of sites, WordPress default themes for 10+ years etc.)
It would be great for page-metadata-service to support retrieving information like name, description, icon/photo etc. from microformats. There's been some previous work done on parsing out specifically "link preview" type information which appears to be the primary page-metadata-service use-case:
