Privacy campaign in at least four colleges in Kathmandu, Nepal #18

Objective:

Mozilla Nepal will run Privacy Campaign in at least four colleges by end of July. Mozilla Nepal will run Privacy Campaign so as to aware students about why privacy matters, how can organizations track and how to be safe from them, et cetera in at least four colleges by end of July

Who owns this plan: @avasz Who is involved: @avasz @nootanghimire @surit, There are few other really interested student volunteers who would like to help us from the beginning of the campaign.

Immediate next steps:

Recruitment of new contributors and help forming new clubs if not already in existence. Strategic planning for success of the campaign.

Which campuses are potential participants in this campaign? Are these technical schools or liberal arts schools?

The following seven are the most potential colleges for the campaign. All of those are technical schools.

  1. Asian School of Management,
  2. Sagarmatha College,
  3. Nepal College of Information and Technology,
  4. Himalaya College of Engineering,
  5. National Institute of Science and Technology,
  6. Swastik College,
  7. ACME Engineeriing College
  8. ASCOL

    Who are the stakeholders you need to engage?

    • IT Club/Firefox Club leads of the college.
    • Firefox Student Ambassadors.
    • College Administration.

      How are you going to do that engagement?

    • By Doing events. Example is Recent Webcast we did in which I talked about Privacy and demoed usage of lightbeam addon to track the third party sites we maybe connected to unknowingly.
    • One on one talks with students, offline or online.
    • I myself and other reps will participate in the events in the college and help the students get engaged.

      What are some tactics you will pursue to achieve your goals?

    • Prepare graphical/visual materials demonstrating why privacy matters
    • Give short talks about importance of privacy and how to protect our online privacy
    • Prepare case studies that explains the importance of Privacy
    • Create survey form templates for ease of students to carry out surveys in their areas/campuses.
