Finalize the IdP API

Goal

Review and simplify the JavaScript API used by IdPs when authenticating or provisioning users.

Define

• [ ] Answer unresolved questions, updating task list and spec as appropriate.
  • [ ] Should we make both the authentication and provisioning APIs available on the authentication page?
  • [ ] Can we simplify the API by removing or consolidating functions?
  • [ ] What does our community want? (Reach out to djc, stavrosk, etc.)
• [ ] Define the IdP API.

    Implement

• [ ] Fully implement the IdP API in the mozilla/browserid repo.

  Validate

• [ ] Ensure that the prior API still works as expected.
• [ ] Port eyedee.me
• [ ] Port mockmyid.com
• [ ] Port login.mozilla.org

  Finish

• [ ] Update MDN.
• [ ] Blog about new API.
• [ ] Deprecate prior API by notifying persona-notices and dev-identity.
