Force activation of an extension #978

Open FGAGwendalG opened 1 year ago

Hello,

An extension is automatically installed by the EDR / Antivirus solution on the computers. We have to manually activate the extension on the computer. I have not found anything to do it globally and automatically. The editor notes it as a limitation related to Mozilla Firefox.

I tried to configure the following settings, but it does not change anything:

I have the ID and URL for installation (xpi).

We are using Firefox ESR latest version.

Kind regards,

Hello @mkaply

Do you have any idea of a GPO who could force the activation?

Kind regards,

We don't have a way to do this via GPO. We don't generally recommend using the registry to preinstall extensions anymore (which causes this problem).

I would use GPO to install the extension directly

Does your antivirus allow you to to not install the extension via the registry?

I don't know, but I can contact the vendor and indicate the best way to install and activate the extension. Can you detail the best way to install the extension (from a vendor point of view)?

I recommend they use enterprise policy. I know vendors have switched to using that or giving info to customers as to how to use it.
