I agree it would be nice to have a central place to localize addons.
Using Pontoon for that would require a dedicated instance with some codebase changes to better support such use case. For example, add-on developers should be able to manage localization of their own addons easily and TM from pontoon.mozilla.org should be available.
I'll keep the issue open for reference, but mark it as P5, since we currently don't have resources to work on this sadly.
For years there has not been a localization platform for addons. Once the Babelzilla website was the mecca for addon developers and localizers. The Babelzilla website is still online but there is no activity anymore. So a considerable void arose.
Some years ago, I think it was during a localization hackathon in Berlin in 2019, I suggested to include the translation of addons in Pontoon. I have discussed today with another user and addon developer in a German Firefox forum and we are in agreement that we need a localization platform for addons again. The natural choice is Pontoon.
So, what do you think about that?
