Users who are not logged into the Archive can publish projects into a "general" bucket #91

Per discussion, would be useful so that people can drive-by and try the tool without necessarily having to log in.

If people discover the tool on Twitter, want to try it out, and don't want/need to revisit their projects, then the step of creating an archive account creates friction and results in people dropping off.

Let's explore how we can remove friction and enable lots of people to play with this tool...

This works!

One question I have, @traceypooh — is there a way to look at the "bucket" of projects published by not-logged in people?

Also, we tested this with about 15 people last night and a few of them timed out and didn't get the pop up with the project link. Any ideas on failsafes in the UI?

yes, indeed! here's the projects in "most recently added" order https://archive.org/details/popcornproject?sort=-publicdate (note: there's some annoying non porpcorn junk there from time to time (AKA spam) for awhile until we pull the "open collection" from visibility in our IA http uploader, etc...)

not sure what to recommend about the timeouts right now. one project failed, serverside, a few days ago, due to having a thumb reference to "localhost:..." that wget was not happy with ;-) so i fixed up that item and patched some code (to go live Mon) to avoid that issue, at least.

Is this the same as @pippo?

yah, more or less... (emphasis on more ;-) \@pippo would be projects saved only by non-logged-in IA users (ie: anonymous) the link i sent would have that plus logged-in user projects!

Got it!
