The ubuntu one is deprecated and will be removed in September 2024. See: https://discuss.circleci.com/t/linux-image-deprecations-and-eol-for-2024/50177#brownout-schedule-and-eol-4
Node 8 and Node 15 are long EoL. CircleCI images are the better option here.
cloud-sdk seems to get weekly releases or so, switching to the one-week old one here
