You seem to be talking specifically about gmail categories which gmail do not offer via imap because they are not 'labels'. I did switch all of those options off :) Thunderbird does offer the ability to set up Message Filters, so you can already eg: if FROM = email address of social media then move message to 'Social' folder.
the Inbox contains several mails including notification mails of social media accounts, promotional mail and offers. Users need to filter the mail on their own and the most commonly used section is spam filtering.
If we introduce and ML model filter typically designed to filter promotional mail and social media notification mail into differetn subsections as in the case of gmail, it would make it easier for many users.
