Regarding #27

Opening up the PR early. Once it all works we will accept the PR and push it into master. Share early, share often! :)

This is here to start the discussion on implementation.

Hey @lloyd @ozten I think this is good to merge now. It's a lot of commits so let me know if you have any questions. I did some basic testing and it seems that:

the app is able to bind to the LDAP server
when doing an authentication (user/pass) it seems to be binding correctly as well

As far as my quick/dirty tests can show this part seems to be ok. I'm going to focus on #17 so the ELB's and other monitoring has an endpoint to check against.

The only thing better than fixing my own bugs if for @lloyd to fix them for me! :D
