I think this is good to go.

Definitely needs QA in terms of how well it works with flaky LDAP and LDAP being down.

We can tweak down the road.

this looks good. I fixed a broken path and changed the statsd prefix for a tighter hierarchy.

last change I want to make before r+ is to massage the statsd hierarchy for better discoverability of stats, coming within the next two hours and then I'm r+
