Just documenting this here for documentation's sake.

It seems like this isn't merely unsupported by the Add-on SDK, but it's also something the SDK team actively doesn't want to allow:

That's odd. Thanks for digging into the issue.

Added a comment in bugzilla. It's a huge limitation on ways people can use the SDK.
