currently it is a setting that needs to be on, but needs to be on by default.
This seems fine, but ACF will onlyu have an option be set on (even if that's the default) if its at least been opened and saved once. Showing featured images should be a default behavior, so my suggestion is to change the option to be:
"Would you like to hid the featured image" and is turned off by default.
