Why am I getting this issue and why is MPDF using {$i} to reference spots in arrays?

This was not fixed.... so not sure why it's closed.

Read the issue template
You are in the incorrect repository
You are not using the last version
This is fixed in the last version
If you have a code example causing this in the last version, fill a bug report in the correct repository

(And, overall, improve your error reporting, at the very least a file/line of the error would be helpful, this will be a no go as an issue report in most projects)
