Project Roadmap or Goals #13

What’s the project roadmap or goals?

Will this project support different platforms/architectures, like armeabi-v7a,arm64-v8a, x86, x86_64?

What’s encoder performance goals in terms of speed, efficiency,etc?

Hi, @rainliu, x86, ARM, and RISC-V will be supported. Now a days, x86 32/64bit optimization has been focused, and it is going forward to ARM NEON. The targeted coding and speed performances of baseline profile and main profile are better than x265 and av1 encoder, respectively. Currently, it is expected that overall performances are reaching the target goal. But, it is required to put more efforts to meet the similar coding gain with VVC encoder. Also, I heard there are several projects using xeve library. ffmpeg and chromium would support xeve in near future.

This project requires lots of contributions for now. It is encouraged to contribute to this project for speed-up and improving coding gain.

...it would be interesting to establish some kind of collaboration with @rigaya to get some hw accellerated en/decoding optimizations...
