Unable to Create Polygon Features #3

The previous version of this plugin would create new features on the existing editable layer. It appears that the new QGIS 2.0 version only creates line features, and only on a memory layer. Is it possible to restore the previous behaviour, or at least support creation of polygons directly rather than just lines?

I ran into some issues with existing layers when porting the plugin to QGIS 2.0, so I switched to memory layers. When I have time, I plan on adding in a choice for point or polygon layers.

This functionality was restored in v0.9.2.
