Four changes should be made to update the obsolete information in travel-mpia.md :

  1. Cheapest option via train from Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf - Heidelberg city; booking via https://int.bahn.de/en (return tickets from 45,- EUR) or to buy at the ticket machines at the train station "Frankfurt (M) Flughafen Fernbf".

Note: this transfer is recommended, as the "Fernbf" train station is right next to the terminals and there are many daily connections and the journey usually only takes 60 minutes. You can then take a cab from the main train station in Heidelberg to the hotel or use local public transport https://www.vrn.de/

  1. Shuttle Transfer from FRA airport to Heidelberg

Booking via TLS website: https://www.tls-heidelberg.de/en/

TLS shuttle (90,- one way with fixed departure times in Frankfurt; if you miss the shuttle, you can take the next/inform TLS about any delays;) Drop-off and Pick-ups in Heidelberg must be specified individually (e.g. your hotel or MPIA direct);

TLS individual transfer: prices to be asked via their website

  1. Individual taxi service via ABC Taxi Service !Cash payment only!

Booking via email: taxikunze@aol.com (mention that you are an MPIA-conference guest to get the below stated prices)

Frankfurt-Heidelberg city, to your hotel (119,- EUR one way plus 15,- EUR/20 min if waiting time applies)

Frankfurt-MPIA (129,- EUR one way plus 15,- EUR/20 min if waiting time applies)

  1. There is no more Lufthansa-shuttle from Frankfurt Airport to Heidelberg.

The information is not up to date but maybe not obsolete

Note that this is the current situation, which will change right after the football cup with heavy construction on the DB tracks.
