@wesbland thanks for helping me correct this. @abouteiller --- here is the ticket to address your concern; any further comments, please add.
@Wee-Free-Scot any comments here are welcome to make sure you agree with plan before implemented.
Personally, I think the reminder to refer to the Terms chapter should be redundant, but I'm not going to fight that battle.
FYI the macro to use is (sets the text as italics, but does not add an index entry):
\mpitermni{initiate}
I will try to be economical with words
Problem
According to semantic terms, Initialize+Start == Initiate. However, the verb 'start' is used in lieu of Initiate in many places with regard to nonblocking collective operations.
Proposal
Replace the use of the word 'start' (resp, starting) thereof from the chapter with initiate (resp, initiating), and any other forms of start with the appropriate form of initiate. At the beginning of the chapter, we will remind readers to refer to the Semantic terms for the understanding of the words initialize, start, initiate.
Changes to the Text
See proposal.
Impact on Implementations
None.
Impact on Users
This will not impact readers. They will understand the colloquial term 'start' is replaced by the formal term 'initiate'.
