I believe Kevin mentioned someone had this idea, but: Every bot is associated with a reputation on each node. If a bot gives you a bum node (a la sinkhole attack) then they get a strike against them. Three strikes, you stop talking, ban them permanently on your list, and remove all the peers they gave you. Combined with #4 , this could be a powerful weapon against sinkhole attacks.

How do you detect a sinkhole attack? If a lot of peers churn at the same time, it could look just like a sinkhole attack.

I remember reading about reputation systems in P2PWNED, but I didn't read much. Can you take a look and see what you find?
