Performance: Large filters take time to load... #1030

Now that everything is colored, it takes longer to load. It would be good to stick up a progress dialog, if anything takes longer than a second or so.

Or, maybe need to turn off updates/notifications because this is a long operation. Might speed it up without needing a progress bar.
