Hardware Acceleration (Surface) off = stuttering playback #82

Open rapt3r opened 6 years ago

Hey there, having the issue with my Android TV + Kodi (v17) Ambilight, that i HAVE to uncheck the hardware acceleration (surface) to get the hue.ambilight Plugin to work.

Unfortunately my video playback starts stuttering/lagging when i turn the hardware acceleration off. But with hardware acceleration enabled, the hue.ambilight plugin wont change colors anymore. (Not working)

So i have two options: 1) Ambilight + Stuttering playback 2) No Ambilight + Smooth playback

Is there any fix for this problem?

There's a fix you can do by adding an advancedsettings.xml

https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/How-do-I-get-Hue,-boblight,-hyperion...-to-work-with-Mediacodec-Surface%3F

This lets you re-enable Surface acceleration and keeps the lights synced.

Hi, I add an advancedsettings.xml in ressources folder, at the same place as settings. but it does not work. did I do a mistake ?

thanks for your help.

Yes - it needs to go in the userdata folder. Should work if you move it to there!

pitifilou commented 5 years ago

just to be sure. userdata folder in Kodi or within the .zip. i don't see it in the zip. thanks for your help

ok, I have copied the .xml in the following path (for information I run KODI on Android TV) Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ Script.kodi.hue.ambilight

and it does not work.

It just goes in the userdata folder - not in the script folder

pitifilou commented 5 years ago

I have also do it. Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ restart the TV and ... nothing :(

pitifilou commented 5 years ago

it really do not want to work :(

pitifilou commented 5 years ago

Because I'm using Kodi 18 with android TV ? and when I disabled mediacodec surface, it works, but movies are lagging a lot

deusxm commented 5 years ago

Maybe try using SPMC instead of Kodi - the latest build of SPMC is actually more stable and runs better than the latest Android version of Kodi

pitifilou commented 5 years ago

I have tried it this afternoon :) But, i don’t know why, it is impossible to declare which light i can use for ambilight. The pop up does not want to appear.
