add error handling for when user selects invalid layer for points creation #23

Summary is pretty self explanatory. When you choose a layer that doesn't exist 
in the "create sensor point mesh" menu, you get a gross looking ruby/sketchup 
error. 

Come to think of it, it might be a good time to add a pulldown menu to this 
thing instead of making the user just type the layer.
