In the GitHub UI you can see some red circles with a line through them at the end of some files in your project. This is GitHub's way of indicating that there is no newline at the end of the file. Here's a comment that explains why it's good practice to include newlines at the end of text files. A good way to ensure that's the case is to set up editorconfig
in your editor and add a .editorconfig
file to the project that ensures newlines are automatically added where needed.
