Box video without black bars ? #9983

in windowed mode and if boxvideo=yes, is there any way to automatically make the osc fit the video width rather than add black bars ? thanks

To my knowledge, boxvideo currently always works by adding black bars.

Maintainers, could you make this into a feature request then? It seems like it would be a common use-case to want to use box video without introducing black bars on the side.

With MPV containing so many different settings for everything, surprised there has not been a solution for this? Does anyone know if any progress has been made on this? Probably a better way then this but maybe the idea I suggested here could be a solution because then OSC width can adjust so that these black bars do not have to be shown? If anyone has any information on the status of this issue, please let me/us know. Thank You

Maybe could be fixed by automatically making the video width default to the current windows width which is what the OSC appears to be doing, and then the windows height would have to be overridden to compensate for the videos aspect ratio?

Less likely to be added but I also made a post here that maybe could be a solution for this.
