This is a request for the AVISA project through Syngenta SFSA. It is important to create a metadata library for varieties. As for example with the fields:

Product profile - clients and markets

PP Design Team Lead/Champion Product profile descriptors Product profile name Crop Country(s) Geographic region(s) Market segment Name of target variety(s) or landrace to be replaced Date PP created   Target client and use Value chain primary clients/customers: Market scale: Use: Type of processing: Market class:   Target crop producers and production system Number of farmers (min-max range) % ratio: male to female farmers (min-max range) Production system: Area of production system (ha) Growth habit: Expected level of inputs: Typical yield range of target system (eg. 0.8-1.5 T/ha) Cropping system: Mechanisation: Agroecological zone(s) Potential seed or vegetative propagation material (tonnes/numbers)

The CGIAR list with target product profiles is here, in GloMIP:

https://glomip.cgiar.org/target-product-profiles

We could take this structure and connect to GloMIP. The TPPs now cover the majority of CGIAR crops.

All CGIAR tricot trials should focus on a target product profile, so we could put this into the meta-data of each trial. Ideally, trials focus on a single TPP, but we could reserve space for more TPPs, especially for backwards compatibility.

I am not sure if GloMIP has an API already.
