Stunt Racer FX Graphic Glitch #231

Open majorpbx opened 11 months ago

majorpbx commented 11 months ago

I was playing through Stunt Racer FX (USA) (Rev 1) with my FXPAK Pro running version 1.11.0 and got to the 3rd race (Speed Trax - Novice - Sunset Valley) when a minute or so into the race the graphics half froze. What I mean is the clock was still running but I could no longer make out the vehicle nor the race track as it was a single color wipe across the screen. I was still able to hear the audio.

Also, I'm running the FXPAK Pro on an Analogue Super Nt with newest firmware and default settings.

I will attempt to screen capture the issue if it presents itself again.

I tested on both a 1-chip SNES and SNT and wasn't able to reproduce it. Maybe I didn't hit the right conditions.

I do have a local change for SuperFX that I thought only affects StarFox performance. You can try it by putting the file inside the attached zip into your /sd2snes folder on the SD card.

I know this is delayed but I'll give it a try and see if it happens again.

I also had a problem with the japanese version "Wild Trax". Twice I witnessed the game freezing. I'm using a fxpak pro rev.b and a brazilian snes snsm-1chip-02. The race stopped but the visual signs on the sides of the track continued to alternate colors. I replaced the fpga_gsu file with this latest branchfix and so far I haven't had any more problems. I also noticed that the end of the Star Fox credits are synchronized with the music. @redacted173 thank you for your effort in improving this wonderful project.

@redacted173 Any hope for a gsu build for OG SD2SNES, or is it not powerful enough ?

See screenshot of the glitch captured on an SNES SHVC-CPU01 2/1/3 with a FX Pak Pro Rev. D firmware 1.11.0. In Game Hooks, cheats, and save states all turned off.

The crash occurred on Stunt Trax Rock Field using the 4WD. stuntrace

How frequently does this occur? It seems like something that would be difficult to reproduce 🙈 Also, have you tried the alternative bitstream posted above? https://github.com/mrehkopf/sd2snes/issues/231#issuecomment-1642885009

It happened the very first time I played the game. I tried the alternate bitstream above and the crash did not happen but I only played through the level once to test it.
