It would be nice to be able to install it with npm install gearman.

The name is currently taken by https://github.com/cramerdev/gearman-node , which I wrote and no longer maintain. Contact me to get the thing transferred over to your project.

lovely idea but @smith seems to have disappeared. Maybe will reopen someday.
