there's a few things we can't do now (mainly flipping along a vertical axis). think there are 6DOF we need:

x/y/rotation/scaling for whole canvas (2 wings as a unit)
inter-wing distance
wing rotation towards/away from medial axis and modes would be reduced to: unified or mirror
