@rnicholus Do you think there's a better place for this particular link? I think it's a good reference to remind folks to think about messaging and potential backlash. I'm not sure it aligns with the other perspectives though.

I think backlash against OSS developers attempting to profit from their work is one of the problems you and I would like to "fix". I took a look at that blurb on Wikipedia, and that left me with some questions.

If we are going to include links like this, I would like to see them in a new section. I actually like the title of the branch you created, and think maybe that would be a good section to mention the Elementary OS approach. Whether we agree with their approach or not, it does appear to be controversial. I think a link to the Elementary OS blog post that explains their reasoning (along with comments from the community) would be a more appropriate link.

This is a very interesting situation indeed, and I think we can find more "controversial" items to put in this new section. If nothing else, this link (and section) will, as you have said, give OSS developers more perspective.

Thanks @rnicholus for finding the link from Elementary. That's a way better resource. I've updated the PR to include that instead with a note to read the comments for messaging sensitivity. Since we've found a more appropriate link, let's hold off on an additional section for now.
