[bgo#704870] Missing Preferences option when is not using gnome-shell #40

Open mrkara opened 7 years ago

Preferences entry menu is associated with gnome-shell menu. If user is running another desktop option like gnome fallback, unity or whatever, it's not possible to her to open the preferences options.

Normally you get a button between title bar and main menu. If that's not the case, which system are you running this on?

Yes, this happens on gnome-shell but not in other desktops enviroments like gnome classic (gnome-session-fallback) for example.

The problem is that preferences option was removed from the normal UI and included only in the gnome shell menu what for me is an error because users that are running gnome classic or another desktop enviroment can't open the preferences menu.

Have a look at how gedit handles this. It uses a fallback UI for that specific case.
