Need to re-encode voice.rtpdump to mp3 #76

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago

The README file states that the file "voice.rtpdump" is a 16KHz single channel,
G722 encoded file. But:
- I see that the RTP headers in the file have a timestamp increment of 160 and
since the time gap between packets should be 20s, that puts the sampling at
8KHz.
- Also, what is the bitrate the file was encoded for?
- Trying to re-encode the g722 frames to mp3 or wav (PCM) creates sound with a
disturbance (the 1-2-3-4-5 is garbled). So maybe I am missing something about
the encoding here.
Can you please shed some light on this to help me decode the file?
Also, if you can suggest a decoding tool/process, that would be great.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
MAC OS X 10.6, libjingle 0.5

The test rtpdump provided were just what comes out of our media engine and can
be used for testing calling to gmail. If you are testing a call to anything
else, you can make your own dumps.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide the media engine as part of libjingle, which
includes our G722 encoder and decoder. However, if you attach a small rtpdump
to this issue, I'll see if we can see why it's not playing well in gmail.

We'll try and take a look, but we might not be able to look at it until next
week.

House-cleaning. This issue seems to be stale.
