The program does not open #47

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the Program 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The program to pop up and open. Nothing. The program is in the taskbar, but
it does not open on the desktop.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The latest version on Windows Vista.

Please provide any additional information below.

I use windows 7 systems, an Gmdesk version is 1.01.
I reinstall the adobe air and Gmdesk, there always have this problem. and we 
can uss 
other air program

Same problem here... program flat out does nothing. I se it running in 
processes but
there's absolutely nothing to do.  I uninstalled, installed latest version of 
Adobe
AIR, and reinstalled.  Nothing.

Last comments here are a month old... is anyone even paying attention to this 
board?
 At least tell us you're looking into the issue.  Don't leave us hanging.  I really
want to try this app.

I just started having the same issue.  Try right clicking on the app in the 
task bar
and select either maximize or restore.  That worked for me, but now I can't 
find a
way to scale the window.  It has to be maximized to be open.

Figured it out for anyone else that comes across this issue. Its minimized, 
hold down
the Win key and press the up arrow key to maximize then pull on the drag bar 
while
maximized to adjust size so the next time its minimized it remains visible.

does nothing... everything current, air, your program etc.

Ok, now also stopped working (won't open, even though loaded into task bar) in 
Vista 32bit, after running fine for a couple of weeks.

I really like the idea of this application, but if you can't get it to work or 
make it more stable, then you should take it down until it's fixed...

For me the problem is that double clicking the icon on my desktop does pretty 
much nothing. The mouse shows the loading icon for a fraction of a second but 
after that nothing happens. There is no application on my task bar that I could 
try to maximize like some other people seems to have.

Adobe Air uses the default browsers connection settings to connect to the 
internet. For example, if you use Internet Explorer as your default browser 
with proxy settings for your 'work browser' but Firefox w/out proxy settings at 
your home, Air will still try to connect with your IE settings.  Make sure you 
can connect to the internet with your DEFAULT browser.  I turned off my proxy 
settings in IE to match my 'home' firefox browser, and after that it worked 
instantly.

I have been experiencing the same problem ( perhaps after a Fire fox update ? ) 
the GM program sits in the task bar, unable to open. Have the same on another 
computer in the office but works fine. Just started doing this last week.. 
really don't know what is going on. Tried to downgrade to 0.99 which opens a 
full window ( except that it wants you to upgrade ) ... please fix this if 
possible

I have been using GMDesk for several months with no problems and I love the 
program. Within the past week I was experiencing this issue where I would click 
the icon on my taskbar to start GMDesk. The Program would launch, and would be 
running but the window would not be open. It would show on the task manager as 
well. What I did to fix this was mouse over the program on the taskbar and 
right click which will allow you to select maximize. This will allow you to see 
the window again. When I opened up the preferences for GMDesk, I noticed that 
the startup service had somehow been changed to picasa. I changed it back to 
gmail, and I no longer have any problems. Hope this helps anyone experiencing 
problems. FYI, this is on Windows 7 Professional.

I have this problem every so often too.  In Windows 7 you can't right click 
GMDesk in the task bar and select maximize as previously mentioned in this 
thread.  So, you'll need the keyboard command for this to work.  Simply click 
on GMDesk once in your task bar to select it (nothing will appear on the 
screen), then do an ALT+Spacebar+X to maximize GMDesk back into view.  From 
there you can go to GMDESK-->PREFERENCES and reselect GOOGLE MAIL under SELECT 
STARTUP SERVICE and then click SAVE.  Good to go after that!

**************POSSIBLE SOLUTION**************I had this problem, and heres how 
i solved it. First run GMDESK, then open up task manager(CTRL+ALT+DEL) and 
under the application tab, right click mgdesk, click maximize. When i did this 
the program appeared maximized, then i clicked and dragged the gmdesk title bar 
down. It turned gm desk into a tiny little box, which i was then able to click 
and drag back to the size i prefer. i think its a weird bug that shrinks the 
gmdesk window down really really small and places it off screen. I also think 
leaving it maximized would prevent it from happening. Hope this helps :) i 
tried right clicking the icon and and maximizing it in properties, but that did 
not work, but when i did it through task mnger it did.

The program is indeed minimized of sorts.  I found that by using any normal 
method of force maximizing the screen, whether you use WinKey+Up or through 
task manager, you get regain the glory.
