Add documentation #25

request to merge add-documentation and master branches

I have merged the add-documentation branch into master. Some internal GitHub failure meant that didn't publish the contents of the doc folder as it should, but there were a few tweaks needed anyway, so I regenerated those and recommitted them, which has made them available now at:

I have also tagged the current state as a release:
