Seattle City Light is the very best utility company. Today I received this email from them:

I appreciate you providing the link to your eGauge. We do pay for the time period since our system was permitted forward so I have recorded the following production for you and we will send out an annual application around September:

Pre-Metered (05/24/2016 – 06/08/2016): 718kWh per eGauge
Metered: 06/08/2016 – 06/30/2016: 1101kWh (Production Meter)
Total: 1819 kWh

What this is saying is that in addition to the energy produced (as measured by my SCL provided meter), they're also paying me for the energy produced before the meter was installed, as measured by my eGauge.

Production 2016-05-24 - 2016-06-30 was 1,758 kWh * $0.54 = $949.32, minus 2016 reduction = 688.26.

The reduction is because SCL has exceeded the number of participants in the program. Rather than blocking new entrants, they're opting to reduce the payouts to existing participants. So the more people that buy solar, the less we get.
