They both look great. I think I prefer the ruins desert as the blueish hue makes it slightly eerie.
Sorry, I was unclear: the idea is to do both zones, I was asking which version of each zone you preferred. Top 3 are all Dune Desert, bottom 3 Ruins Desert.
Ah okay. In that case 2 and 5.
Ranking them for each zone: Dune: 1 > 3 > 2 Ruins: 4 < 5 < 6
The sun at the top of 1 makes it look nice and deserty, while 2 looks more to me like a general craggy landscape (I haven't seen any Dune stuff, so can't say how it looks on that front). 4 has the look of some ancient stone buildings, or at least, seems like something I'd expect to see in a video game desert level (whether or not that's a good thing), whereas 6 looks a bit too Arabian(?).
To be honest, it all depends on what sort of feel we want the levels to have.
Based on average scores (including mine), I selected 3 and 5.

Thoughts? Do you think I should have different water/ice/dirt blocks as well?
Regarding the background, would it be possible to go a little less yellow and a little more orange? I'm happy with the ice as it stands. Perhaps the water could be a bit more orangey too?

EDIT: Actually, that's a pretty small change. I'll try making it a bit more orange.
Looks great! I don't think Ice would be too mush of a problem, as we weren't planning on having the Ice wand in the desert (were we?).
Not until the game loops...
@DivFord can you add the background image to the repo? Currently I get a white background.
Pushed it. I don't know where it went. It was there before…
It could have got removed accidentally in the resolution of the merge conflict I suppose.
Some concept sketches for the second two desert zones. Which do you prefer? I thought it would be good to get the concepts done so we can send them to Mike if he's willing to do more music.
